Lemon Balm Tincture (Various sizes)

from $23.00

Melissa officinalis is one of my favourite herbs for supporting the nervous system and gut. This herb smells delightful picked fresh; the strong aromatic citrus/sour/sweetness facilitates a deep inhale that tends to lead me toward focusing on my breath and slowing down ever so slightly when in their presence.

Sajah Popham says that Lemon Balm, I would say that nervine sedative is the predominant action of Lemon Balm. Note that this is in the nervine sedative category as opposed to the nervine hypnotic category, meaning that its effects upon the nervous system are relatively mild. This does not mean it isn’t a potent remedy though! This is probably one of my favorite sedative remedies to be used to gently calm the nervous system throughout the day without generating any kind of drowsiness. I like to think of it as taking the “edge” off the nervous tone. Many herbalists also consider it to be slightly trophorestorative to the nervous system as well, helping to replenish, rebuild, and strengthen depleted and burned out nerves.
