Wild Rose & Rose (Alcohol free) Glycerite (Various sizes)
Wild rose (Rosa acicularis) and Gertrude Jeckyl (Rosa canina) harvested in December 2024 at Fair Harvest farm and here at the farm.
This delightful and beautifully aromatic rose is revered throughout the Levant Region as a grandmotherly medicine that ‘addresses the soul’ (Ibn Sinna).
Traditionally revered for supporting the heart through grief and heartache, fear, melancholy and worry.
Roses are cooling, sour, astringent with anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidant and nervine actions.
Rose is helpful for upper respiratory congestion in the nose, throat, mouth, sinus and bronchi as it helps to reduce inflammation and cool irritated tissues. Rose also may be used to break up dry mucus congestion and aid sore throats while also helping to reduce runny secretions due to its astringent action.
Medicinal Uses:
Irregularities in the rhythm of the heart, mental restlessness, excess nervous system stimulation (leading to sleep difficulty), stress, worry and high blood pressure.
Red flushing of the skin, headaches and other general heat signs (aversion to warm weather, excessive sweating, irritability, inflammation).
Slow digestion, diarrhoea, upper respiratory congestion, and irritating cough.
Dosage: 2-4ml as desired. Directly under tongue or in water, tastes very delicious as a non-alcoholic mocktail with sparkling water.
Caution: Caution during kidney disease, breastfeeding & pregnancy.
These products are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent disease and have not been evaluated by the TGA.
Various sizes: 100ml or 200ml comes in a clear glass bottle (screw cap).
What is a herbal glycerite?
Herbal glycerites or fluid glycetrates are alcohol-free herbal preparations, made from vegetable glycerine, a thick, clear, sweet-tasting liquid.
They are a popular herbal medicine alternative to tinctures, as they do not contain alcohol, they are safe for children and taste very sweet and palatable in comparison to tinctures.
Herbal glycerites are essentially “strong herbal infusions that are frozen in time” (thank you for this definition, Nicole Rose).
Glycerine is low in sugar and low on the glycemic index, so it does not affect blood sugar and is safe for diabetics.
Glycerine has a mild laxative effect and supports digestive processes (peristalsis).
Glycerites are generally not as potent as tinctures but are a suitable alternative (effectively extracting water-soluble plant constituents) for those who do not consume alcohol.
